PRIMARY DEVELOPMENTAL TRAUMA: FAILURES IN ATTACHMENT
A failure in attachment is the most elemental trauma a child can experience since attachment and bonding is the basis for all that makes us human. When an infant is neglected, meaning that his/her physical and emotional needs are not met, he/she may withdraw from human contact as a pleasurable and rewarding experience. This may lead to life long difficulties in forming healthy relationships. Further, since an infant’s brain organizes around his/her interactions with his/her primary caregiver, an impoverished attachment relationship and environment will produce an impoverished brain. An infant/child exposed to chronic stress states may develop in ways that are not relational but are instead survival based.

When blending together multiple creative disciplines it is possible to engage the entire sensory system - i.e., touch, audio, visual, kinetic, and olfactory into a whole experience. Personal Statement
I believe that humanity is at a crossroads and a shift needs to occur from an ego psychology where the focus is on the "I" to an eco psychology where the focus is on the "We". We live in a society that is increasingly suffering from a sort of relationship deficit disorder. The scope of disconnect is not only experienced person to person but also between person and the natural world. The symptoms of relational deficits are seen in the deterioration of human attachment relationships and in the careless destruction of the natural environment.
Our children and grandchildren deserve a world that is safe, nurturing and environmentally healthy. As we become a global community, it is ever more important to remember that we are all interconnected. Luis Espinoza says it beautifully…."we are all trees in the same wood, we all drink from the same fountain, we all share the same cosmic breath, life is a community of hearts."

ASSESSMENT
The assessment determines a diagnosis and treatment recommendations. There are two parts to an assessment. First a meeting with the parents or primary caregiver is necessary to review the child’s history, family dynamics, family functioning and the child’s present functioning. A subsequent meeting with the child and parents completes the initial assessment process.Following the assessment, treatment recommendations are provided the parents. Typically, once weekly or twice weekly sessions are recommended depending on the intensity level needed for optimal treatment outcomes.

NEUROFEEDBACK, HOME TRAINING MODEL
Home training neurofeedback is a potential option for families who are committed to administering NFB in the home. This, in combination with in office therapy, sessions is an excellent treatment model for children with moderate to severe developmental trauma.
Mershona Parshall Training : How many sessions will I need?
The length of training varies from person to person. Sometimes trainee's experience shifts within just a few sessions or realize that they are changing over time when they find themselves responding to old situations in new ways. Often times, sleep will normalize within the first 10 sessions. I recommend that trainee's plan for around 15-20 sessions. Thereafter, a trainee may choose to continue, take a break, or terminate training if they feel they have reached their goals.
For individuals with more severe, chronic and problematic issues, training will probably need to be longer. Longer may mean 40 or more sessions. Home training can be explored as a potential option if this is the case.
Ms.Mershona Parshall Family Therapy Testimonials
"Hello Mershona, I just really want to thank you for your support and the life changing therapy you offered for our family and especially for the difference it has made in my son Jared's life. All of our lives and relationships really. You got us out of crisis mode and into functioning stability rather quickly. We benefited greatly from your RAD therapy and from neurofeedback that my son took part in. His behaviors are much more tolerable now and a lot less in severity just in the 20 treatments he had with you. The changes were gradual but definitely noticeable. We can go out in public now, and not stand out in a crowd. We look forward to working with you further. Thank You!" --A.B. Parma, OH, (Adoptive Parent)
"I did 35 sessions and can't say enough about the increase in focus, sleep changes, memory improvement, reduction in anxiety and irritability, the interesting increase in personal motivation. It was like I used to look at something and see that it needed to be done and then all of a sudden I found myself reaching out and doing it. The increase in productivity has been great. I have investigated various types of neurofeedback and satisfied myself as a user that Zengar has done the best job possible for us." --A.H. Chagrin Falls
